Stayed for a work trip - hotel looked great online but reality was quite different.
The Vines is ok, but ‘just ok’.
The first room I stayed in smelt damp & had bed bugs, so asked to be moved to another room. Which the lady in the bar very kindly arranged for me.
2nd room- the walls were paper thin, so could hear conversations & snoring in the room next door. The carpet looks like it definitely had seen better days with visible stains on the floor.
Breakfast was fine, but disappointing that there isn’t any evening food. On our last day nobody bothered to open for breakfast. So went hungry that morning.
As others have mentioned, such a shame as the place has such amazing potential!

We had to ask for toiletries and extra towels for the room. Which was resolved quickly. There were a couple of issues in room. The screws on the metal bar were protruding so easily catch your foot. The remote control was falling apart. The TV was very small for the room size. The toilet well who ever installed that must have been tall and very slim. I am not tall and not slim so I could not sit on toilet properly. The screen for the shower is just too close its about 12 inch space between the toilet and screen. The toilet roll holder was falling off the wall.No sockets near the bed. No phone charger ports. No resteraunt open during the evening. Breakfast wish it was as nice as shown on the picture on the hotel blurb. It was adequate and cereals, juice, coffee, tea and toast provided The carpet in the dining area really needed renewing as it had large black marks. The lighting to the rooms via the carpark needed better lighting as it was very uneven and full of pot holes.
Bed linen was spotless and rooms very clean can't fault housekeeping. Maintenance needs a shake up though
The one person that stood out for being an absolute star and took all our complaints and suggestions on board. She said she would discuss this with management. Kye thank you for everything
Management you really need to up your game. Travel lodge outshines you and as for 4 star I suspect if you were reviewed you would be demoted. For what we paid for the room for two nights we were sadly disappointed for what we got

it's a lovely hotel, with attentive staff. Due to a management change, they can't offer evening meals at the moment but they want to. it's such a shame as its friendly and has plenty of room to be really busy. it is off the main road, so doesn't get passing traffic, so it's locals only.

Had a long journey and arrived 15 minutes before the check in time of 3pm.
The main doors to the hotel were locked and we were refused entry at all until 3.pm
On our checkout day we were refused a cooked breakfast being told they were not served after 9.00am despite our being in the dinning room before that time.
The place is tired, the location great the staff friendly.

We absolutely loved this place, rooms were comfy, bed was lovely, downstairs in the bar area was relaxing. Considering James hasn't been there that long he's doing a brilliant job. Breakfast was all you needed to start your day.

Positives first. Great service from the friendly staff at all times. Can't fault them at all.
Comfy bed and good supply of tea and coffee in the room.
Breakfast was a basic full English, but ok.
Unfortunately though, we found the main accommodation very musty and tired. Stained carpets, very thin bedroom walls so you can hear conversations in the next room. Also as we were above the main pub the music and conversations could also be heard.
No hand cleaner in the bathroom and very bad water pressure in the brand new shower.
Very expensive for what is offered.
Great potential though

We stayed here over the weekend and had such a pleasant stay.
Bed was very comfortable and the room was spotless, had tea, coffee, waters and biscuits provided.
There was also fresh towels, shampoo and body wash.
The bar downstairs was again lovely and cozy and the general manager James was so friendly and attentive. James knows what he's doing and delivers a great standard of service with ease.
Breakfast that was included with the booking was tasty and well cooked.
Thanks for having us!

Beautiful night in a very comfortable room, the manager was very accommodating and approachable, the added fan in the room was lovely...and outdoor space was even better not something you get very often.
It's a shame that there is no offerings of hot food in the evening due to staffing issues but nevertheless still enjoyed the breakfast offering in the morning....not too busy or noisy
For next time it's nice to know they do pub stops for camping because the location is stunning, fruit growing from the trees around the place and only down the road is horses to watch if you enjoy just a bit of peace and quiet...
Thank you for the lovely stay 😊 hopefully we can return in the future xx

We were looking for a comfortable well placed pub and rooms for a trip to Jeremy Clarkson farmers dog. Found the Vines pub and rooms and what a find. Excellent pub with loveley rooms annexed at the rear in a quiet peacefull village. The staff were amazing and very accommodating so pleased we stayed and would definitely revisit. Thankyou.

The staff were nice, the size of the room was good, parking was easy and the breakfast was nice.
The room was extremely hot, it was a hot weekend but there was no provision of a fan in the absence of aircon and the bathroom radiator was stuck on full (the bathroom also smelt a bit grim). There was camping onsite next to the room which played loud music beyond 3am in the morning meaning we couldn't sleep very well.
